When was the last time you looked into a mirror and criticized yourself because of a flaw? Maybe it was while brushing your teeth and noticing how they gap and cross over each other or acne scars from that bad breakout. Have you ever stopped to think about how many hours of our lives we spend assessing ourselves, wishing we could just change this or that, typically out of the yearning of looking like someone else. Have you ever thought the person or people you admire feel the same? Personally, one of the most disheartening things you can see a human go through is to no longer love themselves, especially when it’s from the influence of others. My goal is to use my art to encourage others to no longer see their features, physical or neurological, as flaws but as beautiful and unique characteristics. It’s time to celebrate people and their individuality! I want to eradicate the idea that the human figure has to be symmetrical and conform to social standards for it to be considered art. We, as humans, need to accept the fact that we are not perfect and learn to find the beauty in imperfections, because then this world would be infinitely more beautiful. So tonight before you go to bed, look into your mirror and enjoy your own little gallery, because you, my friend, are beautiful. You are art.
